Yes! You can book a tour online to explore the grounds and facilities available at the college. Alternatively, you can also visit us during UQ Open Day!

Grace College is within short walking distance to UQ Chancellor’s Place bus station, as well as several ferry stations. There are plenty of close-by bus stops near us that will take you any direction you need, and fares are only 50 cents!

Yes, friends and family are most welcome to visit you at any time of day, we just ask that you sign them in and out so we know to keep extra people in mind in case of emergency.

Yes, we have (limited) student carparks that you can request in your application for Grace. There is also free parking on Walcott Street outside the College.

It is an introductory week to college and university. Grace student leaders will teach you all there is to know about college and you will get the chance to meet all your fellow freshers and ones from other colleges as well! The staff and student leadership team put amazing work in to make this a week of fun and new experiences for all!

No! At Grace, there is no time where you must be back by. Your FOB key gives you access to the premises 24/7. The only curfew to take note of is our noise curfew, which limits noise between 10pm and 8am for everyone’s comfort.

Yes, Grace offers 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, with community dinners held each Tuesday with differing themes throughout the semester. There are also approximately 3 formal dinners held a semester, each recognising excellence of students in different facets of college life, with guest speakers and all!

If for whatever reason you’ll miss out on lunch or dinner, you can grab a takeaway lunch during breakfast for the same day!

If you’re going to miss dinner, all you have you to do is put your name on the kitchen’s list by 2pm of the same day with any dietary requirements, and there will be a meal in the fridge waiting for you when you get back to college.

While Grace is fully catered, students have the facilities on their floors to cook meals and any snacks for themselves, with stoves, ovens and microwaves available.

Yes! Meal vouchers for non-Grace residents are available to purchase from Admin or from Resident Assistants outside of office hours.

Your room comes fully furnished with a single or double bed (if you are in an ensuite room), with a large desk, shelves, a wardrobe for your clothes with a full-length mirror, underbed and behind bed storage, and a desk chair. Each room comes with a ceiling fan and a heater. You are welcome to decorate your room and make it feel like home.

Across all 3 residential buildings, standard rooms are the same, approximately 2.8m x 3.7m. There are a limited number of ensuite rooms available, which offer more space, a double bed, and a private bathroom.

Yes, each building has 3 washing machines and 1 dryer. Washing machines are $3 per load and dryers are $2. You can either pay for this through the QR codes on the machines, which will take you to our portal to pay for your washing by card, or you can pay with coins. There are several washing lines available to hang clothes inside and outside. Grace provides washing powder, so no need to supply your own.

Yes! We have an onsite gym for residents. It contains weights, exercise machines, boxing and other sporting equipment to use.

Each floor has their own common room, equipped with a TV, couch, tables and chairs for studying, and a whiteboard. Multiple study spaces are available for individual or group use, with whiteboards, projectors and large tables. We have several recreational areas where residents can watch TV, play pool and table tennis, or use the turfed sporting area to play basketball, netball, badminton and a range of other sports and activities.

There are also gardens and decks where residents can relax and hang out with friends. For those studying music or who like playing a musical instrument, there are several music practice rooms to use. There is a small trading library for residents to use for textbooks and personal books.

We also have our very own Phoenix Nest Café! Run by barista-trained residents, there’s nothing better than coming down in the morning for a fresh coffee and a chat with your fellow residents.

Yes, the cleanliness of your room is your own responsibility. Vacuums are provided on each floor for residents to use, however other cleaning materials must be brought in by the resident. Cleanliness of common areas such as shared bathrooms and hallways are all handled by our wonderful cleaning team.

Any person who is intending to study at a tertiary institution in Brisbane full-time is eligible to apply. Students undertaking postgraduate studies are also eligible to apply to live at Grace College.

Absolutely! We have several students studying at Brisbane institutions that are not UQ! These include QUT, Griffith, ACU and many more.

Applications open for the following calendar year in April of the current year (e.g. applications for 2026 open in April 2025). We recommend applying as early as possible!
