Life at Grace .

Our Residents .

Our residents come from many different backgrounds – we don’t all believe the same things or have the same gifts and talents. What unites us is a shared goal to support, care for and encourage each other to rise to every challenge.

Meet your community .

If you were to ask any of our thousands of alumnae what single quality stands out most that made life on campus so easy and affable, the word they’ll use is “community”.

The spirit of community is all about support and creating lifelong friendships, a culture which is nurtured by all our residents, leaders and staff.

Whether it’s help finding your class, making friends or adjusting to tertiary study, you’ll find a friendly face and helping hand close by.

Leadership .

Our student leaders are the backbone of our college. They include:

  • Convenors for Sport, Cultural activities, Wellness, Care, Faith & Life, and International Students
  • The Student Club Executive
  • Residential Assistants (RA’s)

You’ll also have the opportunity to pursue leadership activities and training yourself, gaining valuable skills for post-university life.

Rudy, the college dog .

Rudy, the most loved dog in the world, lives amongst the Grace College community. As the head of canine liaison, he offers a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, with special interest in walkies and treats.

As a resident you’ll find he’s always up for pats, a walk around UQ, or to be a listening set of ears (especially if there’s treats in return).

Meet him below in his star-turn, Live the Life of Rudy.

Hear from current Gracies .

Coming from a rural area to a city, I have immensely appreciated the way that Gracies stick together.

I love that I can strike up a conversation with anyone in the dining hall, and I’m not afraid to be myself around anyone.

Heidi McCormick

Coming into Grace, I found that the sense of community and friendliness was the greatest thing.

Everyone made me feel so welcomed and included, and it was that type of support that I greatly needed after leaving home and moving states by myself.

I’ve made such great friends already, and the friendly environment couldn’t be better.

Rachel (Flip)

Grace acted as my home away from home and gave me all the support I needed to make it through that daunting first year at university. They provided me with tutorials for all of my first year classes, had friendly resident assistants to chat to about any concerns and an dedicated executive team putting on all the awesome college events.

I had so many opportunities to challenge myself and reach outside of my comfort zone in a safe, inclusive environment.

Tarsha (Hero)

Living at Grace College has been one of the best experiences of my life. The strong support network of students and staff has been something that I have really appreciated, as someone is always there to encourage you.

The many cultural, sporting and social activities that college offers are also great. You have a chance to try new things you might not otherwise do.

I’ll forever be grateful to Grace for this experience.

Sophia (Pompei)

There is no doubt that Grace has become my second home. From unexpected card games in the hallways, trying out for numerous sporting and cultural events (even if it’s just for fun), and friends popping in at anytime for a chat, the community at Grace could not be more supportive.

At Grace you’re given a second family. A family of strong, supportive, and powerful young people. A family I’m lucky to be a part of!

Julia (Domino)

Coming from New Zealand to Australia was already a big move as I knew absolutely no one. So when I walked into Grace College, it was heart-warming to see so many friendly faces that were willing to help me settle in.

College life is one of the best experiences I’ve had. There are so many leadership opportunities that helped me to grow and develop.

I have never felt alone here because everyone is always supportive and always willing to help.

Visalini (Toastie)

Grace College was my first choice for a residential college and I have no doubt that I made the best choice for me.

The community is so warm and so welcoming which made me feel at home. This was very important as I came from abroad.

I had such a great experience at Grace College and now have friends for a lifetime.
